About the webinar: Healthcare interpreting is a fast growing career, and since 2010 has two nationally recognized certification bodies (the Certification Commission for Healthcare Interpreters & the National Board of Certification for Medical Interpreters). Yet, there are only around 7,000 certified interpreters in the US. Why is nationally certification not a requirement yet? What are the challenges to becoming a certified professional in this field? Should interpreters seek certification and how can they succeed in achieving this goal? Come explore these and any other questions you may have about certification in this webinar.

About the Presenter:

Carlos Martinez-Morales has been a full-time medical interpreter for over 14 years, and holds the CMI-Spanish credential from the National Board of Certification for Medical Interpreters, the CHI-Spanish credential from the Certification Commission for Healthcare Interpreters, and the UT-CMLI-Spanish state certification in Utah. He is the Language and Cultural Services Manager at Intermountain Health and serves as President of the Utah Translators and Interpreters Association.
